Paracetamol
Indications/Uses
Relief of pain disorders eg, headache; condition of dysmenorrhea resulting in muscle aches, myalgias & neuralgias. Analgesic & antipyretic in conditions causing discomfort & fever eg, viral infections & colds. Analgesic after tooth extraction & growth.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 1-1½ caplet 4-6 hrly. Max: 6 caplet/24 hr.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if severe skin reactions occur. Severe infection; underwt or malnourished; patients w/ alcohol dependence. Not to be used w/ other paracetamol-containing drugs. Renal or hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Not recommended in childn <12 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Allergic reactions, skin rash or itching, peeling or mouth ulcers; unexplained bruising or bleeding.
Drug Interactions
Increased risk of bleeding w/ warfarin & other coumarins.
